Genius Hour Maths Project!!

For seven weeks of this term, fifteen of the highest mathematitions in years five and six, were assigned a project to take a passion of theirs and explain how it was related to maths. I choose to do artistic gymnastics and I covered areas of maths such as angles, diamentions and measurements. Once the projects were compleated, we presented them in front of the three classes that were involved.

some of the other passions that were chosen were; maths in the violin, AFL, lego, NRL, vidio games and cubby houses. They were relly interesting and fun to see how much people had learnt!

My Fibonacci Project

Over the last 4 weeks, I have been working on a project all about Fibonacci; his theory and his discovery. From working on this project, I have learnt loads of things like; the number that is divisible by all the Fibonacci multiples (1, 2, 3, 5 and 8), the male bee theory, the rabbit theory and how he discovered that plants grow around in a spiral.

The amazing thing about plants growing in a spiral is that his number sequence works out to be the same.

Hiroshima poem

The bomb….

The most tragic event,

Shattering lives,

Burning hot ash,

Greyish, black skies.

As disease spread around,

Screams filled the air,

It left them covered in scars,

And half burnt off hair.

This breathtaking act,

Of the bomb shocked the world,

As news spread around,

It was empty where the dead curled.

Dangerous chances,

The people took,

Dropping big bombs,

To make the world look.

GIRAFFES!!!!!

Some people might know that Giraffes are my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE animal. Here are some interesting facts that you might not know

 1. Giraffes are the tallest mammal on land.

 2. Giraffes walk with both legs on one side at a time instead of one one each side at a time.

 3. Other land animals that live around them follow them around because Giraffes are very reliable to detect danger.

 4. The Rothschilds Giraffe is one of the most endangered species of Giraffe.

  5. The Western African Giraffe is the most endangered species of Giraffe.

  6. The horns on a Giraffe are not actually called horns but are known as ossicones.

  7. Giraffes have blue tounges.

  8. Giraffes eat mainly twigs and leaves.

  9. Baby Giraffes are 180cm newborn.

 10. Adults are 500-600cm tall.
